The public domain release of the original handwritten
record (PDF Document: ur-handscript) of the
Course.

LelyStad, Flevoland, September 2007

Dearest Brothers and Sisters in salvation!

Within two decades of learning ways to collaborate in the miracle based Atonement process as described and instructed in the Course, Sonship.Radio has progressively learned to share Universally, and to strive to be reflecting God's laws on Earth increasingly every day.

Over the many years, we have shared with you our deep Soul-commitment to show our respect and utmost gratitude for the Course, the Holy Word of God, to be kept holy forever.

Recently, we have expanded our service to serving and harmonizing a unified Sonship.transcription of the handwritten ur-record of the Course, governed by the striving for highest scientific, ethical and spiritual standards available. We have been prepared for this moment in time by our own desire to come to a mindful, thoughtful and truthful replica of the Course *as given*.

The handwritten record simply reflects the most original instance of Whole Mind Communicating this form of God's Curriculum, the Course, to us, being the Sonship in its present manifestation as mankind, still temporarily in split-mind mode.

We are very happy this day, September 23rd, 2007, to share with you to you the release of the existing copies of the ur-handscript into the heritage of mankind in exactly the way that Guidance from the Author and the Scribes suggest: In accord with Heaven's laws and the world's necessity as one, alike. This release into the public domain is endorsed by the worldly copyright claimant.

Please watch further announcements by Sonship.Radio for the Sonship Unified Transcription project starting soon.

...The overall incentive of this release, its accompanying
technical aspects, and its download location, are being
explained in detail in the following document:

23 September 2007

Dear members of the Sonship,

This memorandum relates to the public domain release of the original handwritten record of the Course

(the ur-handscript of the Course).

That release was made today via a PDF file that forms part of the Sonship·gift:

 2007-09-23_Course-related_source_images_enabled.pdf

which file is referenced in this memorandum as “C1-enabled.”

~

Some ask whether the cardinal versions of the Course (ur-handscript, ur-typescript and ur-compendium)

are of importance to a student of the Course. Over the past seven years, that question has received various

answers, each reflective of the perspective of an individual commentator. The answer that fits the

perspective of Task·HOPE and the Sonship·gift is this:

    A Course in Miracles is. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . much

        the ur-compendium of the Course is. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . more

            the ur-handscript and the ur-typescript of the Course, together, are. . . . . . . much more

~

C1-enabled comprises an authorized release of copies of the original handwritten record of the Course

into the public domain. The term “authorized” is used in reference to authority granted to me personally

and in writing by Foundation for A Course in Miracles.

Public domain © works are part of the common heritage of humanity. No one can have

copyright or other proprietary interest in a public domain work, nor does any law limit anyone’s

possession, use or distribution of such work.

~

C1-enabled can be user-annotated via Adobe Reader. For technical reasons associated with that

annotation feature, the file opens slowly on most computers. Once opened, the file functions normally.

The approximately 300 megabyte C1-enabled file can and may be downloaded from –

 http://tinyurl.com/25rkzm

File integrity of a downloaded C1-enabled file can be verified by comparing the MD5 checksum of the

downloaded file against its reference MD5 checksum. The reference MD5 checksum for C1-enabled is

 202b8ba69029f97ad6c176175f98b3f6

Once C1-enabled is annotated, its MD5 checksum will no longer match its reference MD5 checksum.

To verify an MD5 checksum, MD5 software is required.

“MD5 Checksum Tool” for Windows operating systems is freely available at –

 http://www.mgillespie.plus.com/

and “MDFinder” for Mac operating systems is freely available at –

 http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Security/MDFinder.shtml .

“MD5sum” for Linux operating systems is included with most Linux distributions.

Raphael Greene to the Sonship, 23 September 2007 page 2 of 4

The user-relevant content of C1-enabled is solely images, Bookmarks and metadata. C1-enabled

contains no user-searchable text (i.e., it is neither transcriptive nor interpretive).

Images in C1-enabled are not altered from the source material from which those images were made

(e.g., they are not straightened, cropped, deshadowed, despeckled or edited). Their resolution is

200 pixels/inch, suitable for reference purposes. Higher quality images will be made available to those

who participate in a Sonship-unified transcription (the subject of a separate communication).

C1-enabled can be viewed, navigated, printed, extracted, etc. via PDF-compatible software, of which

Adobe Reader is likely the most fully featured. A recent version of Adobe Reader is necessary to activate

user-annotation of C1-enabled. The annotations can then be saved, exported, imported and shared.

Latest versions of Adobe Reader for all computer operating systems are freely available at –

 http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html?type=distrib

Older versions of Adobe Reader (and Acrobat Reader) should be uninstalled before installing a newer version.

The Bookmarks in C1-enabled present the images by their major native elements – e.g.,

Text  Rounds I, II, III & IV  Notebooks  individual page images

Workbook  Parts I & II  Notebooks  individual page images

Manual  Notebooks  individual page images

Not all Course students are yet familiar with the division of the Text into four inward-spiraling Rounds,

paralleling the division of the Workbook into its major Parts, which may be given these brief headings:

Text Round I. . . . . RECOGNITION

Text Round II. . . . . PROJECTION

Text Round III. . . . MIRRORS

Text Round IV. . . . FORGIVENESS

Workbook Part I.. . UNDOING

Workbook Part II. . RESTORATION

The major Text and Workbook divisions may be further described in this way:

Text Round I. . . . . RECOGNITION – of subject, specifics, purpose, correctness, and inevitability

Text Round II. . . . . PROJECTION i.e., projection non-identification (and thus projection non-withdrawal)

Text Round III. . . . MIRRORS i.e., projection identification (but not yet projection withdrawal)

Text Round IV. . . . FORGIVENESS i.e., projection identification plus projection withdrawal

Workbook Part I.. . UNDOING – “of what you see now”

Workbook Part II. . RESTORATION – “of sight”

Raphael Greene to the Sonship, 23 September 2007 page 3 of 4

And Text Rounds II, III and IV may be lightly process-narrated in this way:

Text Round II. . . . . PROJECTION

“I perceive things outside of me and I also believe that my perception of those things is ‘what’

and ‘where’ they actually are.”

Text Round III. . . . MIRRORS

“I still perceive things outside of me but now I realize that those things are only mirrors of my

own state of mind – because I projected my state of mind ‘outside’ of me and my state of mind

is then reflected back to me as what I perceive.”

Text Round IV. . . . FORGIVENESS

“I choose to withdraw my projections of my own separated state of mind and to accept instead

the replacement perception that the Holy Spirit offers and teaches.”

Bookmarks in C1-enabled do not organize the images by artifactual elements (e.g., Volume) or by

non-native elements (e.g., Chapter or section). However, correlation of some non-native elements is part

of the transcription process.

The form and function of Bookmarks in Adobe Reader can be improved by adjusting the width of the

Bookmarks Panel, by disabling the “Wrap Long Bookmarks” Option, and by choosing among Small,

Medium and Large sizes for Bookmarks.

Version 8.0 of Adobe Reader also permits customization o + f the program’s toolbars to accommodate

personal preferences. Earlier versions of Adobe Reader (and, previously, Acrobat Reader) do not have that

feature. Appended are some suggested customizations of Adobe Reader 8.0+ toolbars.

The quality of image display in Adobe Reader can be improved by enabling image smoothing via –

 Edit...Preferences...Page Display...Rendering... TSmooth images

Via Adobe Reader, the images in C1-enabled can be fully extracted as “Snapshots.” Default Snapshot

resolution in Adobe Reader is low, but it can be increased via –

Edit...Preferences...General... TUse fixed resolution for Snapshot tool images: e.g., 200 pixels/inch
