Jon Mundy, Ph.D. is an
author, lecturer and as "Dr. Baba Jon Mundane" a standup
philosopher/comedian.
A
University Teacher since 1967, Jon currently serves as Lecturer in
Philosophy at SUNY (The State University of New York). He teaches courses on
"The History of Mysticism," “The History of Philosophy,” "The Psychology of
Religion," "World Religions," and "World Views and Values."
He is Cofounder in 1981 of
the New Seminary for the training of Interfaith Ministers and in 1989 the
Cofounder of Interfaith Fellowship. During Jon’s twelve years at Interfaith
(1989-2002) services were held in Cami Hall across the street from Carnegie
Hall in New York City.
Jon
has authored 8 books including “What is Mysticism?” "Missouri Mystic,"
"Awaken to Your Own Call: A Comprehensive Introduction to A Course in
Miracles," "Listening to Your Inner Guide," "The Ten Laws of Happiness,
“Money and Jesus,” “Search for the Center,” and “Learning to Die.”
He met Dr. Helen Schucman
(the scribe for A Course in Miracles) and Dr. William Thetford in
1973. They along with Dr. Ken Wapnick introduced Jon to A Course in
Miracles in April 1975 – 15 months before its publication. Helen served
as Jon’s mentor and “mother hen” until she became ill in 1980.
A
Minister for 45 years, Jon began serving 3 rural Missouri churches in 1961.
He was ordained a Deacon by
the United Methodists in 1971, an Elder in 1981, and as an Interfaith
Minister in 1988.
Jon’s
Wife Dolores is the Administrative Assistant to a Middle School Principle.
Their daughter Sarah is a 20 year old College Student.
Jon’s son Kristian is a
Ph.D. candidate and Instructor at York University in Toronto.
He has given more than 1,700
talks based on the teaching of A Course in Miracles.
